Verellen Elementary Information
Verellen Elementary is located at 612 W. Borton in Essexville, MI. We are actually located in Hampton Township, near Knight Rd. We have approximately 315 students in grades 2, 3, and 4. In addition to the classroom curriculum that includes Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies, all of our students have "Specials" classes each week.
We have Music, Physical Education, S.T.E.M. and Character Education. We have a 1:1 ratio of Chromebooks for all of our students and staff to use on a daily basis at school. Our Teachers and our Instructional Aides do a great job of meeting the needs of all of our students.

Verellen History
Verellen Elementary was built in the late 1950's and originally housed grades Kindergarten through 6th grade. After that, Verellen was a K-5 building for many years. In 2005, we tiered our elementaries. Bush was a Y5-1 grade building.
Verellen became a 2nd and 3rd grade building. Several years later, Hughes Elementary was sold and the 4th graders became part of Verellen elementary. Viola Verellen is the namesake of our school. She was a teacher in our district for over 40 years.
