Garber High School is seeking individuals who are interested in helping our district athletics program. We are currently experiencing a shortage of bus drivers and athletic referees/officials which is impacting our teams. If you are over the age of 18 and would like to support our athletes, please contact Dave Schwartz/Athletic Director at the number below. Listed are the potential pros/advantages for both positions.
1. Certified Essexville Hampton Bus Driver
a. Become certified as a bus driver/could be extra-curricular or 2nd shift only if desired.
b. Earn extra money while driving athletes to their events; this may also include your own child which in turn allows you to be a spectator
c. Giving back to our school district as we are experiencing more travel to events without a school bus
d. We are looking for interested individuals immediately for the 2024-25 school year.
2. Certified MHSAA Official
a. Become a paid official for the sport(s) of your choice. (As most of you know) the current trend for officials in our state is alarming. We are having to use more weekends and assign less officials for more events which is increasing the burnout rate amongst officials
b. Officials are paid rather well
c. Exercise your mind and body through sports
d. Allow for sufficient officials going forward in the coming years for athletes
e. Meet new people
